Ayelet Schrek
My Dearest Rebecca,
This year, we only had one class together: English with Mr. Jefferies. Every English class began with an opener on the board. One type of opener we did was an analogy, aka blah is like blah because...fill in the blank. Some student examples were a candy wrapper is like thinking, elephants are like eating, a rubber ducky is like hallucinations, and a class favorite, bacon is like God. So today, I’d like to make some analogies for who you are to me.
You are like a tree because you are strong and beautiful.
You are like a tree because you have grown.
You are like a tree because you help me breathe.
You are like a sweater because just having you around me makes me feel warmer.
You are like a pair of jeans because you adapt to your surroundings.
You are like a door because you can open up.
You are like a door handle because you can open up doors for others.
You are like music because there is nothing else like you in the world.
You are like music because you bring joy to my life.
You are like music because I love you.
Rebecca, you mean so much to me, and I'm really going to miss you as you go off to Waldorf and I to JCHS, but I know we’ll still remain the closest of friends. I love you.
